Luxurious Italian shoe company Aquazzura has filed a lawsuit within the U.S. District Court in New York against Ivanka Trump, IT Collection LLC and her manufacturing companions Marc Fisher Holdings LLC and M.B. Fisher LLC, alleging they copied a popular shoe design.
Melania has been broadly criticized Tuesday after her speech on the Republican Nationwide Convention in Cleveland Monday evening was found to include verbatim phrases used by First Lady Michelle Obama when she addressed the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

The lawsuit against Ivanka Trump and companions claims the defendants infringed on Aquazzura’s fringed sandal the “Wild Thing” with the “Hettie,” also a fringed strappy shoe. Aquazzura’s Wild Thing is priced at $785 on Internet-A-Porter; Ivanka Trump’s Hettie shoe is priced at $145 on Amazon.com Inc. AMZN, +0.88%
“Seeking ferragamo on sale experienced but with out having to put in the laborious creative work, defendants resorted to knocking off plaintiff’s standard designs,” the lawsuit says. “Defendants have copied almost every detail of plaintiff’s nicely-known and coveted Wild Factor Shoe, from the shape and silhouette to the fringe masking the toes, to the tassel on the heel.”
The Wild Thing can also be offered at shops together with Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, a Hudson’s Bay Co. retailer HBC, +3.61% together with Aquazzura’s own boutique.

This isn’t the first time Aquazzura claims Trump lifted a design from the company’s fashion guide. Aquazzura previously complained about other design similarities, after which “defendants ceased their sale of the Trump Necila.”
“Defendant M.B. Fisher LLC has filed suit towards Aquazzura for a declaration of non-infringement concerning the Trump Teagin Pointy Toe Pump with Tassel,” the lawsuit says.

Aquazzura has taken his case to the court of public opinion, posting a side-by-side comparability on Instagram with the rebuke, “Shame on you @ivankatrump! Aquazzura was founded in 2011 by Edgardo Osorio, who has beforehand labored for different high-end shoe manufacturers including Salvatore Ferragamo S.p.A. SFER, -8.44% and Roberto Cavalli.
